About Fiskars village

Fiskars village is a unique place with a long industrial history. Established in 1649 as an ironworks, it has since then also been a manufacturing hub for agriculture machinery and utility items. Best known today for its orange handles scissors the Fiskars company maintained some production in the village until 1980s. But once production moved away, new purposes had to be found for the vacant buildings. Fiskars management recognised the potential of an artist's village so they set about to entice craftspeople, designers and artists to move to the village and set up their practices. Today, the village is a vibrant working village bustling with creative people practising their art, craft and design. Small businesses running shops, workshops, exhibitions, restaurants and accommodation welcome visitors all year round.
